Gwen has the week off from school. It’s actually pretty weird to have her around all the time again. Cam is all hugs and kisses, but I think she just wants to get to school and do some learnin’. Or recess. Whatever.

I told him we’d get a snack and watch a movie after I got done putting away laundry. Apparently I took too long.

Ready for School

Gwen just started her second day of Kindergarten. Amazing how I haven’t been able to sleep two nights in a row because I’m too worried about her.
She’s having a good time, is doing well, making friends and when she sneezed after putting on her new school clothes said “LOOK! I didn’t get Bless You on my dress!”
And on a side note, the current method for kid pick-up at the school is freakin’ retarded. Or maybe it’s just the other parents that are retarded…..
I don’t know what’s funnier. The fact that the kids tell each other really, really bad knock knock jokes and laugh hysterically for half an hour, or the fact that Cam says “Ding Dong” instead of “Knock Knock”.
I think Cam is missing the women. The entire time I was taking a shower this morning, he was standing on the ledge of the tub yammering at me through the glass.
It’s bad enough when just Mom travels, but Mom and Gwen travelling has my stomach in a huge knot. Can’t eat or sleep until I know everyone is okay.
Cam asks where the women are about every fifteen minutes. At least he mixes it up. Where’s Gwen? Mom Home? I go find Gwen now? We going? You take me find Gwen? Go now?
UPDATE: They are in Chicago. Gwen apparently thinks an airplane is a big rollercoaster (yay) and O’Hare has a children’s play area. Who’dathunk?
UPDATE: Cam and I went to bed about two minutes after hearing all was okay in CR.
I was sitting at my desk engrossed in sketching out an idea for a project, and Gwen came in from working on the computer.
She looked at me, “HI, Dad”. Paused for a minute, and walked out.
She came back in a few minutes later with her sketch pad and pencil and set up shop next to me.
Nothing funny or an observation to go with it. Just sharing.
Today we finished up moving rooms around. Originially, the kids had their room, a play room, computer area in the loft. Then there was master bed, living, etc.
BUT, since the kids were only using the playroom as a dumping ground, were getting in trouble having the computer in the loft AND both Stacy and I wanted our own office areas….. It now goes, kids room, Cliff’s office, loft area with toy storage and master bed with Stacy office. The kids now have their computer in the living room which makes yelling at them to turn it down much easier.
Anyway, the point of this post is I think Gwen is bucking at losing space. They’ve gone from controlling 90% of the house down to 50% and I think it bugs her. I doubt she even realizes it, but she’s been a little touchy about the whole thing.
BUT, that will end soon because she’ll have her own activities. As of August….14th? Gwen will be attending East Mesa Charter School as a kindergartener, an ALL DAY kindergartener.
Oh yeah, some serious man-time with me and Cam on the way. I’d say we could go babe-watching, but he’s waaaaay too obvious about it.
